Birmingham—all open

THE local council have made the 'dangerous' structure that closed the Garrison Flight safe, so the Grand Union Canal into Birmingham is now open.

John Teal tells us that the authorities have demolished a loose piece of masonry and placed fencing around it.

Considered safe

This has enabled the Canal & River Trust to consider it now safe for boaters to use the flight.

With the Aston Flight also open, there are no restrictions from the Birmingham & Fazeley Canal into the city.
