Many conditions for housing developer

THOUGH the application for building houses on a canal-side site at Brierley Hill at Dudley has been given outline planning permission the council has laid down 37 conditions that must be met.

The development is next to the Stourbridge Canal on land housing the former Harris & Pearson brickworks, where its office is Grade II listed for its historic value, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Objected

The council objected to the siting of the 61 houses planned by Clearwater Properties of Stroud that are planned, the appearance of the houses and landscaping as well as many other details.

The original plan shows the houses 'ignoring' the waterway, being backed on to it, but the council believe the houses should be fronting the open space of the canal.
