Burnley Canal Festival

THOUGH only going for two years, the Burnley Canal Festival has proved so popular that once again it is being staged over the Bank Holiday weekend.

As before, there will be boat trips for visitors along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, Alan Tilbury tells us.

Many boats

There are many boats booked in, including trade boats selling their wares, lined along the waterway.

There will also be canoe instruction and angling, whilst on land will be music and entertainment and plenty for the children.

Visitor centre open

A street theatre has been arranged together with craft and food stalls, and the Weavers' Triangle Visitor Centre and Oak Mount Mill Engine House will be open for tours.

There will be a boaters welcome party on Friday from 7-30pm followed by a best dressed boat competition.  It takes place on the 29th and 30th of this month.
