CaRT's Head of Governance lends a hand

FOLLOWING a recent visit to Holme Lock on the Trent by Canal & River Trust's Head of Governance, Roger Hanbury, Darren Wood's licence was re-instated, this despite his licence having previously been revoked (Confused leisure boater) on the alleged grounds of ‘overstaying on a visitor mooring', writes Pam Pickett.

Darren's boat has no engine and although it has now been established that it is in fact not on a visitor mooring, CaRT's grounds for the re-instatement of the licence called for Darren to move his boat to its home mooring at Barton-in-Fabis by the 17th April.

Closure of Holme Lock

In order for Darren's boat to reach its home mooring however a tug was required. Unfortunately the continuing closure of Holme lock prevented the mooted use of a tug from Newark reaching his boat, thus leaving him unable to comply.

With Darren desperate to get his boat on to his home mooring where he and his partner are waiting to fit it out as a liveaboard, Roger Hanbury (pictured)  has again come to his rescue.

A few days ago, CaRT's 63 years old Bantam Tug Will Scarlet safely pushed Darren's Hopper from Holme lock, to its home mooring at Barton-in-Fabis.

All credit due here to the intervention of Roger Hanbury.
