"You can wait"

WE RECENTLY took a trip down the Southern Oxford, and met a party of workmen repairing a fence at one of the locks, who had moored their work boat in the lock, Geoff Bennett writes.

They were using the materials from it in a 'hand to mouth' method instead of unloading the materials and letting customers continue their holiday.

Customer unfriendly

I suggested their working method was a little 'customer unfriendly', but was told I would just have to wait.

After some discussion, with myself and the queue of boats now waiting in each direction, they very reluctantly agreed to move and let us pass.
