Will anything be done?
THE state of some of the facilities around the waterways has prompted a boater to contact British Waterways, and she waits to see what reply she gets.
I have recently emailed BW about the state of some of the 'facilities' around the cut, and shall be interested to see what kind of reply I receive from Sally Ash, 'Head of Boating', writes Carmen Smith.
The water point at Brownsover, Rugby, which we used today, is one of the sort of which I am complaining. The water conceals sloping concrete slabs which make it difficult to to get the boat in close; the bank edge is uneven and a long drop down from the boat. The hose gets filthy from being trailed through the mud.
Just think what a difference the spending of a few thousand pounds would make on installing piling, providing a stone or concrete edge, some extra mooring rings, and some hard standing or gravel instead of the ubiquitous mud. So much better spent than on failed investments in waterside pubs!
