Tower block on the agenda again

THE Waterside tower block plans at Mexborough overlooking the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation are on the agenda again.

The plans for the eight storeys high complex were passed in 2007, but then the economic downturn came, and so the venture was shelved due to lack of capital.

No takers

Though the company, Ashley Hackford gained planning permission from Doncaster Council, the company wanted a larger development company to become involved, but there were no takers, and no work was undertaken.

Revised plans have now been put forward for the complex that would include a block of 72 apartments, eight storeys high, with views overlooking the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation and the Don.

Once again it is hailed as a  'major transformation' of Mexborough's waterfront.
