Caen Hill opens again

CAEN Hill Flight on the Kennet & Avon Canal has now re-opened to navigation after being closed for repairs.

It was on Tuesday 22nd June that a boat struck one of the gates on Lock 24, that was in a somewhat perilous state, and due to be replaced, closing the entire flight.

After then, even though gates were available, fish had to be removed and health and safety had to be adhered to too, making it two and half weeks before the work could be completed.

The flight was opened at noon today—Friday 9th July, as was estimated.
