Camping by the locks

THREE locks on the Thames have been publicised as ideal places to pitch a tent and camp out.

These have been featured in a new book, suggesting places to camp, with Cookham, Rushey and Pinkhill locks given special mention.

Singled out

Cookham Lock is singled out for particular praise, achieving the highest ratings for both quality and welcome, something Cookham lock keeper of 16 years Adam Benge is very proud of, explaining:

"We work very hard to maintain the campsite and provide everyone who visits with a friendly and positive experience. It's fantastic to have our efforts recognised in this book."

The Environment Agency hopes to encourage more people to visit and enjoy their local environment, and believes visiting one of the 44 locks along the River Thames is just one way to do this
