Diesel in Grand Union

A NARROWBOAT has sunk at Aspley Basin Quay on the Grand Union Canal spilling a huge quantity of diesel into the waterway.

The emergency services were called to the moorings in Hemel Hemstead early morning yesterday (Tuesday), with the fire people attempting to control the spread of diesel, Alan Tilbury tells us.

The cause of the sinking is not known, as there was no one on board at the time, with the police contacting the owner.

Neither is it known why such a quantity of diesel escaped, as normally it is sealed, but a large amount leaked from the boat and spread along the waterway.
