Get them for free!

SOME good advice about  smoke alarms for narrowboats, from of course a boater.

Sue, of No Problem writes that the best alarms to fit are 'optical' smoke alarms as they detect smoke rather than heat; ie the toaster or oven heat.

Smoke alarms are free if you can find a fire engine at a narrowboat festival or gathering then they will give you two or three for free. You can also walk into any fire station anywhere and ask for the number of smoke alarms you think are needed and you will get them for free.

Just remember to get 'optical' ones.
