Promise of visitor moorings

THE developers of the new marina that is at present being constructed in Becket's Park on the Nene at Northampton promise that visitor moorings will be available.

It is well known that the area down from the Grand Union into the town is not particularly safe since the housing estates have been constructed, and neither is the town itself, so secure inexpensive moorings in the marina would be very welcome for boaters.

Work on the marina is now underway, with the developers boasting that it will be 'amongst the best in the country'. There will be 80 berths, including six residential.

Bernard Morton, Chairman of the Inland Waterways Association Northampton Branch, relates:

"Northampton is a great place for a marina as it is a bridge between the Grand Union Canal and the Nene and the Ouse. It will compare very favourably against other marinas in the country, because it will have all the facilities that we need and is in an ideal location."

The new marina is planned to be open next year.
