Botch job

THE towpath bank on the Grand Union Canal in Loughborough has at last been repaired.

The bank collapsed many years ago, with the run of chicken wire protecting it, but last week it has now been 'augmented' by some lengths of plywood dropped behind the posts, Pete Jones tells us, with his photograph showing the work.

The eroded surface has been backfilled with a couple of bags of sharp sand, just in time for the Bank Holiday Festival that is held on the waterway.

Excellent repair or despair? You decide relates Pete.
