A battle boat

WHILST the three main political parties are touring the country in their battle buses, Richard Fairman candidate for the United Kingdom Independence Party is touring in a battle boat!

It's on his narrowboat  Alcedo decorated in bunting and flags and moves on the Welland at South Holland, visiting the town on market days, and is keen to welcome people on board to air their views.

He claims his voyage was the first time a narrowboat had come up the Welland in the town for many years and said he had a  'marvellous reception' so far.

Richard has plenty of experience at negotiating rivers as he is a water taxi pilot.
