New footbridge for Rochdale Canal

IT IS walkers who are set to benefit from the construction of a new footbridge over the Rochdale Canal in Manchester.

The new bridge will connect New Islington with Ancoats, in the east of the city, and is part-funded by a £4.4 millions grant from the North West Development Agency.

Moorings for boaters

A number of footpaths linking the development to the city centre will also be built, and there is the possibility of moorings for boaters.

This is all part of a scheme that will see  thousands of homes, and retail units together with a primary school built on a brownfield site.
