Mersey Crossing full

THE Inland Waterways Association Mersey Crossing Convoy has now reached its capacity, and no more boats can be accommodated.

It was last Friday that Ian Fletcher of the association told that they had 'closed the book' on the event, which will take place on Monday 21st June, with some 30 boats crossing from Liverpool South (Brunswick) Docks to Eastham and on to Ellesmere Port.

Tom Rolt Celebrations

Many of these boats will go to the Tom Rolt Centenary Celebrations in Chester over the weekend of June 26/27th., and others will go on up the Ship Canal to either The Weaver or Manchester.

Explained Ian:

"The limiting factor in not taking any further bookings is not due to the complexities of crossing the tideway nor of navigating the Ship Canal—but simply the capacity of the Liverpool Link and Salthouse Dock to deal with such a large influx of of boats over a short period of time—particularly 'one-way traffic' which may be subject to delays due to the vagaries of the weather."
