A boaters' pub

THE Jolly Boatman at Thrupp on the Oxford Canal will soon be a proper boaters pub, when boater Andrew Cannon completes its canal theme.

Together with partner Craig Westlake it is intended to make the pubĀ  a boaters' destination, not only catering for drinkers but supplying provisions from a mini shop.

Having known the pub for some years, when he saw it was on the market late last year, he jumped in, and bought the the lease, with the intention of turning it into a canal themed boaters' destination.

He tells it will be a pub that will welcome boaters and their dogs, and be able to supply them with essential provisions, as well as catering for the land-based trade.

The Jolly Boatman is open, and in fact has been awarded five stars for its food hygiene and safety standards.
