Audlem—the place to be stuck

MANY boaters have been frozen-in recently, but one pair believe the best place to be stuck is Audlem.

Wilf and Maggie Loynd booked an off-season narrowboat, Isle of Mull but found themselves fast in the ice at Audlem on the Shropshire Union Canal, and after so many acts of kindness and concern during the period they could not move, they tell:

"This village is exactly the place to be stuck, not only because of the many excellent facilities but because of the numerous acts of kindness and offers of support that we received from the warm and generous people of Audlem.

"One might say that we are gluttons for punishment but we have resolved to book again for the coming Christmas largely as a result of the kindness received from this community."
