Money for repairs

IT SEEMS that the trip boat on the Neath Canal will come to an end unless money in found for its repairs.

The narrowboat The Thomas Dadford has been operating on the Neath Canal between the town centre and Aberdulais for around 20 years, but it needs serous maintenance, as last year many trips had to be cancelled.

The main problem is its engine, which needs replacing, but there is other work to that is needed to get it back in good working order, and £32,000 is required which includes a new engine.

The boat is operated by the Neath and Tennant Canals Trust, but it does not have the funds as the trips are its only source of income, though the Neath Port Talbot Council will contribute half the cash.
