THE boater who attacked a fellow boater over mooring, who subsequently died has walked free from Court.

It was in July last year that David Shiels, 72, was accused of causing the death of 56 years old David Tweddle, who was discovered collapsed on his boat at the moorings by Th'Owd Tithebarn pub.

Both were boaters, who were involved in an argument over moorings, which resulted in a fight.

No evidence

David Shiels, was charged with manslaughter, but he was released at Preston Crown Court after the Crown Prosecution Service offered no evidence.

The prosecution had  a conference between the CPS, police and a pathologist, and it was established the 'fisticuffs' which took place did not amount to an assault.
