BOATER Justin McDonald is back in prison after  admitting possession of drugs and a CS gas canister at his narrowboat at Devizes on the Kennet & Avon Canal.

He had recently been released after serving a 18 months  sentence for drug offences, with a police search on his boat revealing  104 grams of cannabis resin and herbal cannabis. They also found a CS gas canister, which counts as a firearm under the Firearms Act.

Under the terms of release he is barred from possessing firearms for five years after serving a jail term.

Crossbow and air pistol

At his house the police discovered a crossbow with bolts, a loaded air pistol and a 12-inch knife, but as they were found at his home, he could not be charged with possession of those items.

Justin McDonald,  was arrested and remanded in custody and appeared before Salisbury magistrates charged with possession of: a Class B drug, a weapon for discharge of a noxious liquid, gas or other thing and a firearm. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight weeks.
