Lancaster Canal bridge still closed

THE bridge that was struck by a vehicle on the Lancaster Canal earlier this month is still closed for navigation.

Bell's Bridge (68) had its parapet struck by a vehicle that dislodged a parapet and the loose stones caused the navigation to be closed, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Scaffolding

The engineers inspecting the damage have discovered it will need scaffolding that will have to be erected over the water to complete the work.

This means that the bridge will be closed for navigation until after the scaffolding has been erected, the work completed and the scaffolding then removed before it can be reopened.
