THERE is one thing that is sure about the Leeds & Liverpool Canal—it's swing bridges will break down.
It has now started with Methodist Swing Bridge (15) giving up the ghost, Keith Gudgin tells us.
Structural failure
The swing bridge at Maghull failed on Sunday, with the reason being 'structural failure', and is currently unable to be operated.
During 2018 many swing bridges on the waterway failed, with Crabtree (pictured) failing so often it failed to get reported.
