More hire boats for the Llangollen

THIS coming season there will be even more hire boats on the Llangollen Canal.

Anglo Welsh is extending its partnership with Hoseasons at Whixall Marina as a new base for its boats, Alan Tilbury reports.

The boat hire company has worked with Hoseasons for 10 years so had no compunction at opening a new base with the company.

The new base is located on the Prees Branch of the canal and will add 10 more hire boats, including three new ones from April next year.

The hire company, like many others, has been hit with the inordinate number of waterway stoppages this year, but with the Llangollen regarded as a 'safe' canal as it is used to supply water from the Welsh mountains to the reservoir at Hurleston, it is kept in good condition.

However this means the canal can become exceptionally crowded especially at holiday times, as our photograph shows.
