Community helping burnt-out boater

THE boating community is helping a liveaboard whose narrowboat was burnt-out.

The boat was burnt-out as it was moored at the bottom of Stockton Locks near the Boat Inn on the Grand Union Canal, Roger Fox reports.

Suffered same fate

Former boater, Martin James, whose boat also suffered the same fate before Christmas in the past, has started a crowd funding page to help raise funds to either repair the boat or replace it for Malcolm, who is well known and liked in the area.

It is understood a stoked-up stove caused the fire during the night, with Malcolm being taken unawares, suffering burns and needing a stay in hospital for treatment. Photograph by Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.
