Damaged bridge closes L&L

A DAMAGED bridge has closed the Leeds & Liverpool Canal at Farnhill.

A vehicle has  struck Farnhill Bridge (183a) dislodging masonry that has left it unsafe for boats to pass underneath, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Closed for safety reasons

This means the navigation is closed as for safety reasons passage under the bridge is not possible.

As the bridge is the responsibility of the highways department of the local council, Canal & River Trust is awaiting the council to make the bridge safe before navigation can be reopened. Farnhill Bridge is three miles south of Skipton
