Narrowboats descend on Stourbridge

DOZENS of narrowboats flocked to Stourbridge for its Open Weekend.

Held last weekend on the Stourbridge Canal, it was the 35th organised by the Stourbridge Navigation Trust, that had evolved into a real family fun weekend, Alan Tilbury reports.

Classic car display

In addition to the narrowboats there was a classic car display, steam engines, plenty of amusements, trade stands and canal boat trips on the trust's trip boat The Blackcountryman.

For the occasion the Bonded Warehouse was opened to the public with a craft fair, and the glorious weather helped make the whole event a good success with huge crowds on both days.

Santa trips

Starting on Saturday 15th of December will be the popular seasonal Santa boat trips on the weekends, with tickets now on sale at £9 each and include the Santa experience and gift for children, with a mince pie and a drink for adults. To book places call 01384 395216.
