Stuck in Gloucester

A YACHT has been stuck in Gloucester Docks for weeks because it is stuck in the silt.

Dreamaweigh has been stuck in the main basin at the end of the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal when the owner discovered his boat would not move when he wanted to leave, John Hibbert tells us.

Go no further

Steve Peet managed to get the yacht out of Victoria Basin but then it would go no further than Main Basin owing to the build-up of silt, so had no alternative but to leave it there until the basin can be dredged, commenting that rather than the keel being too low the mud was too high.

Sally Owen from Gloucester Narrowboats told Gloucester Live: “It’s all silted up. It’s meant to be dredged more regularly. It was dredged last year in November.”
