An elusive motor

IT WAS on Tuesday of last week that once again the Ivy Lift Bridge on the Caldon Canal gave up the ghost.

This was due to one of its barrier motors burning out making the bridge unusable to boaters it being in the 'down' position.

Located the new motor

We were then told by Canal & River Trust that it had 'managed to locate the new motor, but we are unable to get it to site until tomorrow morning'. So told the bridge will be open by noon the following day, Wednesday 27th.

But alas our Keith Gudgin reports that it was not. In fact a week later, it is still not open.

The reason?  CaRT have not found a motor after all, but hope to by this coming Friday.

Make of that what you will, as our Vicor would remark.
