Who writes this drivel?

THAT is what our Keith Gudgin asks about the stoppage information regarding the Huddersfield Narrow Canal.

And drivel it is as the 'Narrow' is being opened on Monday 3rd September for only three hours with boats booked to go through the tunnel told to queue 'ready to sail' at Lock 1E by 12 noon and then be at the tunnel entrance at Lock 42E between the hours of 8am and 12 noon on the Wednesday.

Only open for three hours

But the canal will only be open for three hours each morning from 9am to noon, meaning that the boaters, to be there at 8am will have to do 42 locks in three hours in one day, that of course is impossible, even if risking it by arriving there at noon they will be very hard pushed to make it, bearing in mind the lack of dredging means the very short pounds will quickly empty making progress extremly slow. 42 locks in six hours, with those following the first through having to empty every lock before proceeding, that too will be impossible, especially if there are those boaters who open paddles very slowly.

To add insult to injury the boaters are then told to share the locks—on a narrow canal!

We can only agree with Keith—who writes this drivel?
