Boaters getting the blame

TWO stoppages on the Trent & Mersey with boaters getting the blame!

The waterway is closed at Pavilion Lock (62) Malkin's Bank on Heartbreak Hill, due to damage to the lock gate which has caused excessive leakage Canal & River Trust maintain , Keith Gudgin tells us.

And another

CaRT then go on to blame boaters again for damage at Crow's Nest Lock (67) further down Heartbreak Hill, with work starting on Thursday, and the canal closed at both places in the meantime.

Though in the past (before Canal & river Trust) we cannot recollect boaters ever being blamed for lock gate failures, it now seems to be the standard reason...
