ACCORDING to the article 'Health & Safety gets worse', The health and safety regulations are getting even more of a hindrance to boating, writes Bill Ridgeway.

This is not correct. The Health & Safety Regulations have not changed. What has changed is that people 'with authority' interpret H&S requirements which are then applied as though it is the law and goes unchallenged to become quasi de facto law.

Job goes pear shaped

The theoretical outcome in many occurrences is that a manager justifies his position and puts employees in their place. In practice however, employees (who don't like their experience and knowledge ignored) do exactly what they are told and the job goes pear-shaped. The classic employee response is:  "I told you so but you didn't listen!"
