THERE has been a gas explosion on a boat moored  on the River Great Ouse in Ely today, with the occupants injured.

The explosion was on a moored GPR cruiser, with the occupants, a man, woman and child suffering from smoke inhalation and burns to their face and hands, Richard Hall tells us.

Taken to hospital

The three were taken by ambulance  to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge for treatment. There is no knowledge of their condition.

Five fire crews attended the incident at 9am this morning (Tuesday) to discover that a gas cylinder had exploded causing the injuries and damaging the boat.

By 10.30 all had been made safe and the fire crews left.  The boat is still floating.
