Seal swims the Ouse

A SEAL has been discovered some 50 miles from the sea in the Ure in the Yorkshire Dales.

It was ramblers who saw the large grey seal basking by the side of the river, that had obviously swum the length of the Ouse through York then onto the Ure, a journey of 50 miles.

Thought it a sheep

At first it was thought it was one of the sheep until they were closer and discovered it was a seal that had obviously swum into the Humber then the Ouse.

It is understood it had become lost and disorientated, perhaps after chasing fish up the tidal river.
