Trent & Mersey reopens after oil contamination

Published: Monday, 09 April 2018

THE Trent & Mersey Canal has been reopened with most of the contamination of an oil spill now cleared.

Canal & River Trust tell us that the heavy rain last week caused oil to be washed into the canal by Booth Lane Top Lock (67), but this seems another 'Cartism' as Lock 67 is Crows Nest Lock above Middlewich,,,

Mostly cleared

However, wherever the oil spill was, it has been mostly cleared, enough to reopen the waterway.

This was achieved by various teams working together and getting rid of most of the pollutants yesterday, Sunday.
