Small marina to boost development plan

TO HELP get planning permission for development by the side of waterways, moorings are now usually included to further the chance of success.

And a 'masterplan' at Middlewich by the Trent & Mersey that includes building 137 homes and businesses includes creating a 12 berth 'marina', Alan Tilbury reports.

Refused last year

However, the development was refused last year as it did not have the required 'masterplan' which has now been included, though this now needs a public consultation, that will delay the decision.

The proposed development is by King's Lock by the junction with the Middlewich Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal.

One of the businesses objecting to the original development was Kings Lock Chandlery as there was no masterplan.
