Broken weir reduces moorings water level

THE top of the Legard Weir on the Calder & Hebble Navigation has broken off and has lowered the the water level.

This has caused the boats at the nearby moorings to be at risk of grounding, with boaters being advised by Canal & River Trust to move along the river and moor in deeper water, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Contractor appointed

It is understood that a contractor has been appointed to carry our repairs to the weir, but boaters are advised it could be a 'couple of weeks' before the water level is back to normal.

Passing boaters should be aware that boats will now be moored in the navigable channel.
