Short-cut claims another victim

THE short-cut along the Kennet & Avon Canal towpath at Newbury has claimed another victim.

Drinkers use this path after leaving the Slug and Lettuce in Newbury to get to Thatcham, with one drinker this year finishing-up in the canal and drowning, with the water claiming another victim, Alan Tilbury reports.

Discovered in the waterway

Steve Holland, left the pub around midnight earlier this month, with the police searching, his body was discovered in the waterway and identified.

He was last seen on CCTV showing him leaving the pub and walking towards the Wharf and the canal.
