Another 'damaged' lock closes canal

Published: Wednesday, 06 December 2017

WHEN a paddle stops working on a lock these days, we get the message 'damaged lock closes canal'.

Once again it is a paddle that has stopped working, but it is no longer a maintenance fault it had been damaged—as the Amarican's would say, 'passing the buck' onto boaters.

Flight out of action

This time the unusable paddle is on Lock No. 2 on the Glasson Branch of the Lancaster Canal, with the flight being out of action since Monday, Keith Gudgin tells us.

CaRT has affixed notices at the top and bottom of the flight stating it is closed.
