Tony Hales is back

THE former Chairman of British Waterways, Tony Hales is back, not as part of Canal & River Trust but giving talks about the change from British Waterways to Canal & River Trust.

This is one of the events at the London Canal Museum, with Tony giving a talk at the London Canal Museum on the 7th December, how he oversaw the change of the organisation from being a nationalised transport industry into the Canal & River Trust, a national charity, Bill Ridgeway tells us.

london museumIt is stated that he will recount some of the history of that period of great change.

Christmas Shopping Evening

Also on the 7th of December there will be a Christmas Shopping Evening in the museum shop, with a discount of 10% on cash sales on all purchases in the shop from 6pm to 7.30pm. The museum will be open from 10am until 7.30pm on the day, with a free mince pie and glass of wine or soft drink for all shop visitors (no purchase necessary).

Running until 2018 is an exhibition on London's Lost Canals, from the museum's own exhibition team on the canals that have largely disappeared from view in our capital city, telling of the discovery of the site of an early torpedo works, the base for the world's largest fishing fleet, and the canal whose route is now used by thousands of commuters every day.
