THE Long Eaton Sea Cadets have choosen Sawley Marina on the Trent to be their new base.

It was on Thursday 10th August that they were officially welcomed to Sawley Marina by marina staff, local dignitaries and families of the cadets.

Strong links

Sea cadets Sawley2Barry Singleton, Officer in Charge, Long Eaton Sea Cadets commented:

“We have forged extremely strong links with Sawley Marina and this has been down to their generosity. They have made us very welcome and have pulled all the stops out for us. From that point we can officially base our boating operations and training at the marina, continuing to improve and provide a first class service to the cadets. The facilities at the marina more than cater for this and the cadets, after having a tour are extremely excited at the prospect of moving there.”

National youth organisation

The Sea Cadets are a national youth organisation sponsored by the Ministry of Defence and the Royal Navy.

Julie Cutts, BWML’s Marina Manager enthused:

“I am absolutely delighted that the Long Eaton Sea Cadets have chosen to base themselves at Sawley Marina. It will be a pleasure working alongside an organisation supporting young people from the age of 10 up to 18 years. The Cadets will be supporting our marina events and will provide a presence on a regular basis.”
