Huddersfield Narrow closed for two weeks

THE Huddersfield Narrow Canal is to be closed for two weeks in October owing to 'severe leakage'.

The leakage at Lock 22E is affecting the nearby construction site, causing damage and disruption, so the waterway will be closed from the 9th to 20th of October, with no passage allowed, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Has to be stopped

In view of disruption to the adjacent construction site the leak has to be stopped, so resin grout will be forced into towpath side lock wall in an attempt to stop the leakage.

It is not stated why this should take two weeks to complete, only that Kier are doing the work.
